08/06/2010 - Sailing on Lake Arrowhead
We all buy a home in Lake Arrowhead so we can be close to the lake. And while the views from your deck may be gorgeous, there’s nothing like being ON the lake. So, on Sunday, I took a day to go sailing and enjoy the whole reason why I live here. I am not a master sailor. In fact, the only thing I’m good at is manning the tiller! But, thankfully, when you’re in the hands of an expert sailor, that’s all you have to do! So I set out, under a typically azure sky with white streaks of cirrus-cumulous clouds to conquer the waters of Tavern Bay and set sail across beautiful Lake Arrowhead! And if you’re out long enough to see the sunset, there’s no better place to be! |

One of my favorite things to do throughout the summer season is go to our local Market Night held every Friday at the Lake Arrowhead Village. In addition to the abundance of fresh, locally grown produce, there are many local vendors selling anything from art to jewelry to fresh baked goods and so on. 06/17/2010 - Blooms at the Pinnacles
There had to be a few benefits to all the weather we've experienced this year and I've found a great one! Hiking out at the Pinnacles yesterday, I was awed by the numerous blooms creeping out from under rocks and covering hillsides. Many of which, I had not seen before. What a beautiful, breathtaking hike! For anyone who likes easy nature walks and have not yet been out to the Pinnacles or Rock Camp...it is prime time to go. Well, mother nature decided to take us by surprise Sunday with a beautiful (albiet inconvenient) snow-storm. And although the talk around town says Wednesday may bring another round...I am sure it will only bring some rain, which none of us can complain about! This weekend, of course, is MEMORIAL DAY! and...as we know it here in Lake Arrowhead, the beginning of the SEASON! The McKenzie Water Ski School will be opening up for the season on Saturday. Lake Arrowhead Village will be hosting various events. And don't forget, all the open houses that will be available for view around the lake! The whole mountain obviously feels the way I do...Spring Fever has hit! The birds are busy, the plants are stretching out their toes, May Gray is encompassing the valley (we get to laugh at all the flat-landers that can't understand why we put up with the winter snow) and all is well on the hill!
It's time to get out and remember why we live here on this beautiful hill!
Willow Creek (map) is bubbling...and easy to get to!
The staging area at the Pinnacles is now full on the weekends with dirt-bike riders or hikers that want to see the "matates".
The lake is full and beautiful...and recently stocked! Time to go FISHING! |
